A NEW TOY AND A BIT OF NOSTALGIA.

Recently, I took possession of a wonderful gift. What made this gift so special is that it was made for me. The pictures left and below shows a crystal controlled 40M CW transmitter built for me by Colin, G3YHV, which uses an EL37 Valve PA producing about 25 watts.  It's just great to have the warm glow of valves in the shack. Actually despite all the modern pieces of commercial radio equipment, I still have 13 thermionic devices in various parts of my station.  Colin has given me 5 crystal frequencies in the band and I'm already having great fun with it.  I'm using my old FT901DM as a receiver. It takes me back to my earliest days on the air with simple valve transmitters.  I can see that I'll not be using the  Kenwood transmitters for some while.

HEATHKIT DX100U and SB10U
Thinking back to those AM days in the 60's, I would be interested in hearing from anyone who might have a Heathkit DX100U (UK version) and Sideband unit SB10U (UK version) for sale.  Let me know.
